Acid etching removal, polished back to clear.
Acid-etched graffiti and acid damage polished out of storefronts, doors and windows, with the glass left in place.
Damage in the glass, not on it.
Etching creams and markers containing hydrofluoric acid eat into the surface of glass and leave a frosted mark. Unlike paint, it isn't sitting on the glass, so no cleaner will remove it; it has to be ground or polished out (Wikipedia).
The same kind of damage happens by accident when harsh, acidic cleaners such as brick wash are left on glass.
What we see most.
Etched tags
Tags drawn with acid markers on storefronts, doors and transit-facing glass.
Acid wash damage
Cloudy runs where brick-wash or cleaning acid dried on new windows.
Cleaner damage
Haze from strong cleaners left too long on glass or shower doors.
Keep the pane, keep the shop open.
Replacing a large storefront pane means boarding the opening, waiting on glass, and paying a crew to reinstall it. Polishing out the etching keeps the glass in its frame and the business open.
Stop the next one.
- Clear anti-graffiti film takes the damage instead of the glass and can be swapped out.
- Good lighting and cameras on street-facing glass discourage tagging.
- Rinse construction chemicals off glass right away.

Questions we get
Can acid etching be removed completely?
Most etched graffiti can be polished out. Very deep etching takes longer, and occasionally replacement makes more sense; we'll tell you after the test spot.
Will I see where the etching was?
Done properly, no. We polish to match the surrounding glass and check it from the street.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes. Storefront work can be scheduled early morning or after closing.
Etching gone. Glass stays.
